There is a tendency in skincare to give every ingredient a story.
An ingredient becomes the reason for the product. Its origin becomes part of the marketing. Its benefits become the headline.
We prefer to think about formulation a little differently.
The whole matters
When we make a product, we consider each ingredient for its place in the formula and what it contributes to the finished product.
No single ingredient needs to carry the entire story.
What matters is how everything works together: the feel of the product, how it applies, how it behaves on the skin and whether it makes sense for the way we expect it to be used.

What belongs, and what doesn’t
A considered formula isn’t necessarily a long one, or a short one.
It is one where the ingredients have a reason to be there.
That means being thoughtful about what we include, but also being willing to leave things out. We don’t want to add something simply because it is fashionable, makes a good headline, or gives us another claim to put on a label.
The product should be able to stand on its own.
Beyond the formula
That way of thinking extends beyond ingredients.
We consider the materials we use, the packaging, how a product is made and how it fits into everyday life.
None of these things need to become a grand story.
They simply need to be considered.
Nothing unnecessary. Nothing added, no story.
That is part of what we mean when we say a product is thoughtfully made.
